Is Shipping Really Free?
For most customers, yes — shipping is included in the listed price.
In rare cases, destinations outside standard freight lanes, highly customized oversized orders, or particularly remote locations may require an additional shipping fee or delivery to a nearby freight terminal or major town/city for pickup.
If that applies, we’ll confirm it with you before we build anything.
No hidden surprises, no post-purchase headaches.
Materials
What materials are used in your range hoods?
We select materials based on the finish and performance requirements of each hood.
For paint-grade range hoods, we use a combination of plywood and engineered wood products. This approach ensures structural stability and delivers the smooth, flat surfaces needed for a flawless painted finish.
Wood range hoods combine veneered plywood or HDF panels with solid wood rails and stiles. This hybrid construction creates a stable, consistent product that withstands the heat and moisture of kitchen environments.
Shaker Style
Shaker range hoods feature a standard 2 1/4" rail and stile with inset panels at 3/16" or 1/4". These proportions are consistent with traditional shaker cabinetry, so they integrate seamlessly with most kitchen designs.
What Inserts work with these Range Hoods?
Most range hoods will fit if you specify your cutout size. Curved models require extra care, especially with larger inserts—higher CFM options may take up more space.
We've designed our inserts around specific Victory Range Hoods sizes for a perfect fit and reliable performance. Compatible options are listed on each product page based on your range hood width.
The choice is ultimately yours.
How high should my hood be installed?
Most wood range hoods are installed so the bottom of the hood sits approximately 30" above the cooking surface. This height works well with the Victory insert systems our hoods are designed around and helps protect the wood structure from excessive heat exposure.
Depending on your kitchen layout, ceiling height, and local building requirements, your installer may adjust this slightly. We always recommend confirming final installation height with your contractor or cabinet installer before mounting.
Do I need professional installation?
We strongly recommend installation by a qualified cabinet installer, contractor, or experienced trim carpenter.
Our hoods are designed for straightforward wall mounting and clean integration with the compatible insert, but because they are large architectural pieces, proper anchoring, leveling, and insert fitment are important to achieve the best finished look.
A professional installer will also ensure the hood aligns correctly with surrounding upper cabinets, crown lines, and backsplash features.
Quality instructions are provided.
Can I order custom sizes or finishes?
Yes — custom sizing and finishing is one of the biggest advantages of working with Ashton Millworks.
While our standard hood sizes are designed around the most common upper cabinet heights and widths, we can often accommodate:
- custom widths
- custom overall heights
- paint-matched finishes
- premium hardwood veneers
- mixed paint and wood accent combinations
- special wall-depth or crown alignment requirements
This is especially helpful when integrating with existing cabinetry, taller ceilings, or custom kitchen designs.
There are additional charges for custom colors or significant changes. Email us at info@ashtonmillworks.ca and we can figure out a solution.
Do you sell to cabinet shops, contractors, or designers?
Yes — we regularly work with cabinet shops, kitchen designers, contractors, and millwork professionals.
Special trade pricing is available for qualified industry partners, along with options that make integration into your workflow easy.
Depending on your needs, hoods can be ordered:
• Fully finished and ready to install
• Primed for final finishing in your shop
• Unfinished for custom stain, paint, or site-matched finishing
This is especially useful when matching an existing cabinetry finish, coordinating with a larger kitchen project, or maintaining finish consistency across an entire installation.
If you're purchasing for multiple projects or would like to discuss recurring trade orders, please reach out — we'd be happy to work with you.
